Mechwar
The neural interface started it all. Scientist realized that a machine controlled by a human through the neural interface could respond much faster and more effectively than even the fastest AI. Of course, since human brains are designed for human bodies, this meant that a machine shaped like a human was the most efficient type to machine to control.
This discovery led to the Age of Mechs. And the Age of Mechs was an age of war.
Mech War is a fast-paced combat game set in the near future, where human pilots control giant robotic fighting machines called Mechs. You control the military forces of a powerful city-state which has declared war on other nearby city-states. Your goal is to capture your enemy’s City Center – a sort of combination between military headquarters and mass-production center – while protecting your own city center in turn. Unlike other tactical warfare games, which often have complicated rules, Mech War is designed to be learned and played quickly. There are several characteristics that distinguish Mech War from most other strategic wargames.
1) A different terrain map is generated each game, meaning that no game of Mechwar is exactly the same. You may face your opponents on desert flatlands, mountainous forests, swampy river deltas, an island archipelago, or anything in between.
2) Apart from the cards you draw - which all have equivalent game-balance - there is no randomness about the battles in this game. No dice are ever rolled: instead, whether pieces can capture each other or not is based purely on positioning, similar to Chess or Go. Mechwar is a pure strategy game.
3) Each round, your units will have slightly different abilities based on the tactics card you played to empower them. Want to launch a devastating attack across the ocean? Then use the Amphibious Assault card. Or would you prefer to strike from the skies? In that case, play Air Superiority. Your tactics cards determine your military's unique advantages and disadvantages.
4) Asynchronous competitive play allows you to play a game over the course of a day (or weeks, or even months) simply by setting a timer that determines the amount of time each player has to respond to a move.
5) Advanced gameplay options allow you to choose what kind of war you'd like to fight, from a brief surgical skirmish to a long war of attrition. The Clan Warfare game variant allows you to field a military that specializes in a specific type of warfare, such as mobility, guerrilla warfare, or a strong industrial base.
Are you ready for the ultimate strategic challenge? Then you're ready for MECHWAR.
